So you want to play a Kinfolk? Well, there are a few things to keep in mind when making (and dealing with) kin.
First and foremost, Kin are not Garou. They cannot do a lot of the things Garou do, and are not expected to. This however, does not make them less that Garou. There are after all a lot of things Kin can do that Garou cannot.
The Kin of the sept are given a great deal more autonomy than in many other septs, they are able to pursue their own interests, are to be treated with respect and even have a voice when it comes to sept business. With all of that however, they also have a great deal more responsibility. The Kin of the Sept are expected to contribute a fair bit to the safety and security of the Sept. They are the eyes and ears of the Sept, often responsible for redirecting innocent bystanders away from the Caern heart or any altercations between Garou and Leech. Some even stand with their Garou family when the Sept goes to war.
Kinfolk Rules
1. Kin are expected to follow the litany (or at least the Septs interpretation of it)
2. Kin are expected to take a role in the day to day protection of the Sept, just like the Garou. This doesn't mean that the kin has to be out patrolling (though you certainly can), this could be a bartender that keeps an eye out for strange occurrences, or a shop owner with a network of contacts. The possibilities are endless
3. Kin can gain both Rank, and renown (up to Cliath at the very least). While this might sound pretty awesome, Kin with this rank are held to a much higher standard.
4. The Eldest Kin acts much like the Tribal Eldest.
5. Pregnant kin are evacuated from the sept until well after their child's birth. This is for the safety of the kin and their child. (anyone with questions or concerns regarding this is free to speak to an ST)
6. Most plots/combats will have a danger ratings, the higher the rating, the more dangerous the scene and the higher the possibility of character death, danger rating will be based upon Garou PCs. Kinfolk do not have the healing capabilities of Garou, and as such, the danger to them is increased. Please keep this in mind when opting to join front line combat. Punches will not be pulled because you are a kinfolk.
